Bi-fold windows have leaves that are hinged alternatively, allowing them to fold out of the way on the side.  This is a great idea for kitchens or dining areas located next to outdoor entertaining areas such as patios and balconies.  The window can be used as a servery or just as a portal to the outside environment.
